Why would we want to keep the Surprise? |
|
| |
In our fast-paced, 'gotta have it now' world, there aren't many surprises left. This is
one of the biggest in your life...why not keep the surprise? Especially now that there
is a solution to the yellow or green nursery. Imagine Dad being able to run out into the
waiting room and yell, "It's a boy!" or "It's a girl!" with family and friends cheering.
A 50/50 call doesn't sound like much but, there is something about waiting until the big day
that makes it seem like you've just announced the King or Queen. It's really the main thing
that everyone wants to know.
We offer all of the convenience of knowing, while allowing you to keep the surprise!
Need another reason? Labor and delivery nurses have told us that parents who wait until
the birth to find out the sex, often have an easier labor. It is thought that
the excitement in finding out girl or boy outweighs the pain. One thing is for sure, we
definitely help alleviate part of the pain by creating the nursery of your dreams while you
also get to keep the surprise of a lifetime.

Will I be detracting from my experience by using Peekaboo Design Group? |
|
| |
This is an extremely personal decision. Peekaboo's
goal is to alleviate associated stress
that comes with expecting a baby.
Parents may utilize a few or all of our
services, depending on what you need. It
is most important that your vision be
executed, no matter how little or much
you need us. Our parents are very
involved in the nursery process. Our job
is to compile everything that our
clients want and could possibly need in
order to present a 'complete picture.' Many parents start the process and get overwhelmed by trying to piece together a nursery, then they turn to us. Other parents just run out of time and need help in the finishing touches. We're here for whatever you may need.

What do the parents do while the room is being
assembled? |
|
| |
We work within your comfort level. Most
times, Mom and Dad are out while we
complete the nursery. But, we have
a special Peekaboo cover, keeping the room
a secret even while we work so it is
possible for Mom and Dad to be home.

How long does it take to prepare the nursery? |
|
| |
It is almost always a three day
process... one day to paint, one
day to set-up and
another day to clean and complete the room. It is approximately a 4-8 hour process
each day. Structural changes and other job requirements may add days to the process.
On the day of the baby's birth, we come to the house to add the final touches and
replace the locked door and curtains with a pretty pink or blue wreath so that the room is
ready for baby's arrival.

When are
the Surprise Nurseries assembled? |
|
| |
We offer two options. In
the first option, we come in 6-8 weeks
before your due date and complete the
nursery exactly as you want it. The nursery
is then locked with our secret Peekaboo lock
and covered with our adorable secret
Peekaboo cover. This is a great, inexpensive
option.
Our second option is for the couple who
wants the luxury of having the nursery completed at the time of
baby's birth. We take you through the
entire Peekaboo process where you approve a
baby boy and girl design board.
Then, we come in as soon as you are ready, and
set up a gender neutral nursery for you to
enjoy. We use your furniture as the
base and all custom products
designed by Peekaboo which are always shishi
foo foo! This allows
you a pleasant space to spend time in for
nesting. Peekaboo is then kept 'on
call' until baby is born. Everything
has been gathered and prepared according to
boy or girl, we're just waiting on your
call. Once you call, we go into action
and prepare the room for your arrival.
Regarding the paint: Our paint is
almost immediately safe for baby.
We
can only take on so many of these nurseries
a year so, call early to reserve your date.
Because Peekaboo Design Group is on-call
just for you we include concierge services
in this package.
In either scenario, we take inventory of
items needed to be sure that you are
ultra-prepared and you also get the nursery
of your dreams.

What about the baby showers? |
|
| |
We have great ideas for baby showers and offer help to friends and family hosting the
shower.
We have great ideas like bringing clothes that a girl or boy could wear...like
cute chami-pants, adorable on a girl with a pink ribbon through the belt loop; or
take the pink ribbon out for a boy!
Overalls are another fun gender neutral
item that you can add an inexpensive
clipped bow or flower to for a baby
girl. It's fun for the guests, too.
The easiest way to shower the Mom-to-be wanting to keep the surprise, is with a
Conventional Shower before the baby's birth, where guests give Mom the necessities.
Then, have a Sip-n-See Shower after the baby arrives, where guests bring pink frill
dresses or baby boy blues while also getting to see the baby.
If you are a Mom or hostess-to-be and need ideas, give us a call. We would love to help!

How do you suggest parents bond with their baby when keeping the surprise? |
|
| |
This is crucial. Most parents talk to their baby long before they're born.
We suggest that Mom and Dad create a nick-name for baby to help them bond.
A child is seldom called by their given name. There is often a term of endearment
like, Pea, or Pumpkin or, our favorite, Boo.
Tell us what nick-name you used or
nickname you have for your baby-to-be. info@peekaboodesign.com

What about twins? |
|
| |
As couples are waiting longer to have children, multiples are becoming more common.
We are here to accommodate. Twins may look alike but, we tend to create twin
nurseries with separate
identities. Our design for multiples compliment each other but, allow each
baby their own design.

How does Peekaboo Design Group know the sex of my baby? |
|
| |
Parents are given a 'No Peeking' Self-Addressed Card to give their doctor.
The doctor marks the card, boy or girl, then drops it in the mail to us. Once
we receive the card, we begin the planning and start preparing the nursery.
This card is framed and placed in the nursery as a keepsake.

What about parents who don’t want to keep the surprise? Can they use your services? |
|
| |
Absolutely. Our original idea was to help parents who want to keep the surprise. But, as we began listing our services, we realized that this is a service that any Parent-to-be could benefit from.
So, while our goal is to bring back the trend of keeping the surprise, we understand those who ‘need to know’ and, of course, look forward to assisting any Mom wanting less stress during her pregnancy.

How do you keep the surprise? |
|
| |
Most of our discussions with the parents occur before we know the sex of the baby. After we receive the
'No Peeking' Card from the doctor, communication narrows to mainly
e-mails. This helps provide a buffer, so that any slip of the tongue can be avoided. Our e-mails are set up to catch and change any he/she, his/her usage.

What if the gender determined by the doctor is incorrect? |
|
| |
Ultrasounds are generally 95-99% accurate. That’s pretty good, until you’re the 1-5% who receives an incorrect reading.
A contract with Peekaboo Design Group provides insurance in case of error. If we’ve completed a little girl’s room and you call on the day of the birth to say…’it’s a boy!’ We go into action and put the approved boy’s room in place. So, no matter what, by the time you get home from the hospital, your room is done in the necessary décor.

Can parents tell the sex of their baby from a sonogram? |
|
| |
"The chance that you will recognize the genital organs of the baby without any prompting is very small. Interpreting an ultrasound image requires a lot of training and skill and is not like looking at a photograph of a person taken in front of him. Patients are often unable to 'see' the parts of the fetus the doctor is actually carefully studying during a scanning session."

Our couple of '08 is a perfect example. They studied their sonogram
pics for months and just knew they were having a boy.
When the 'No Peeking' card came to
Peekaboo and read "It's a Girl," we at
Peekaboo wondered if there was a
mistake. The entire family was so
certain...they even showed us the
little hoo-ha! Turns out, the card was correct; Jenn, Brent and their entire family truly got a great surprise
and brought home a beautiful baby girl!

How is payment arranged? |
|
| |
We have two methods of payment. In the first, you can pay all products up front and 30% down on services. The remainder is due 2 weeks after you have seen and approved your nursery.
The second method, is 30% of your total, products and services, paid upfront. The remaining amount is allocated across the months leading up to your nursery reveal. Your last payment is deducted 2 weeks after you have seen and approved your nursery. The last method requires a credit card for payment each month.
Every client who contracts Peekaboo, receives a planning and budget sheet. The bottom line on this sheet does not change unless the client requests products or services to be added. The price we quote is always your final price. We keep the sex of your baby a surprise, not your budget.

Who does the work? |
|
| |
Our professional services such as photography, spa services, etc are determined by our own ‘Peekaboo Best of’ team. This team, choosing the best in Dallas, consists mostly of our parents. We partner with professionals that parents recommend. We have extremely high standards that each professional must abide by; and if we feel one of our partners has given poor service to one of our clients, we will terminate our relationship with that professional immediately. We only work with the best.
For our services such as painting, preparing the nursery and housekeeping, we have a strong network of Mom’s wanting to spend time at home with their children but, who also want to earn extra income. These Mom’s are held to the same standards as our professionals. You must be the best to work with or for Peekaboo Design Group.
