When my daughters were born, I treasured every handmade gift that was given to us – so much so that many of the beautifully knitted blankets didn’t get used.
There was one exception.
Lois, one of my neighbors from the hood where I was raised, made a quilt out of vintage kid’s clothes – clothes that her daughter, my neighborhood running buddy, wore.
It was an awesome gift that brought back memories of Shannon and I growing up together and making memories with all the other neighborhood kids – riding our bikes, playing in the creek, “late-night” hide and seek and slumber parties.
I recognized every piece of fabric used in the quilt.
What made this gift even better is that it is one of the most functional gifts that I received.
While babies, I used the quilt to set my girls to play and do their daily tummy time. Now, at ages 7 and 5, it’s the first blanket they reach for to take to the yard for their sister picnics.
The love and the time it took for Lois meant the world to me. But, if you’re busy and don’t have the time to make a gift like this, I found the solution!
While trolling Amazon yesterday, I discovered this awesome baby quilt. It would make a great registry item for expecting parents to add and a unique and useful gift to give an expecting parent.
This may be one of my top Amazon finds and I will definitely be purchasing it for my next baby gift!
